How to End Outboard Motors from Smoking

End 2-stroke outboard motors from cigarette smoking. My Evinrude 200 HP 1997 would smoke out the neighborhood each and every time I cold started off it. This assisted minimize the cigarette smoking down. See the outcomes in the movie. Decide for your self. UPDATE: ANY 100% Artificial TC-W3 2-STROKE OIL (NOT Artificial BLENDS) WILL Function JUST AS Properly AS AMSOIL! NO Require TO Perform THE AMSOIL OIL HUNT Sport. I now use Evinrude 100% Artificial X-D 100 with even greater outcomes. My motor operates considerably smother now also! You should try out it and leave your cigarette smoking remarks!.

You do not want an outboard to quit smoking!! When it smokes, you know it is getting oil. When it doesn't smoke, it is not getting oil and you are going to ruin your motor.

West marine is having a huge sale on there Pur Oceans full synthetic TCW3 rated Oil it's under $20.00 for full synthetic. Just go to there site West Marine and check out the oils. Today date is May 4 2016. I don't own a boat I use it in my Volvo and Jeep GC at a ratio of 1 oz per 5 gallons. It cleans and lubes better and cheaper than Marvel Mystery oil or Lucas fuel injector cleaner.

Why didn't you just put synthetic oil in your injection tank. You are now running richer at an idle than you were with the vro which would inject oil at idling closer to 100 to 1. Just one more guy who was on the internet and read VRO BAD THROW IN GARBAGE

So I hear from your video that you are running this pre mix at 50:1.  I have used the 100:1 amsoil outboard and have smoke issues only at idle.  And you believe that the xd-100 is even better correct.

Had similar problem on a 90HP 1995. Would smoke all the time. Read on Internet this was caused by a leak on the gas line.  The injection pump is somehow connected with the gas pump.  When there is a leak ( sucking air) the gas pump is pumping more to get the same amount of gas thus increase the amount of oïl going in the cylinder = smoke.  Found the AIR LEAK, fix it.  Never had the problem after.

A 2 stroke burns oil. If it don't smoke you got problems. There is no need to disable VRO's either. Engine won't run if injector pump isn't working properly. Run a mid grade gas no ethanol, oil with tc3 and your good. If the smoke embarrasses you buy a 4 stroke.

I use xd100 oil on my 150hp 1998 Johnson ficht ocean runner and no smoke….premium gas with a mix of royal purple gas treatment…I've heard some bad stories regarding this motors but mine so far hasnt given any problems…and if it does…fuck it ill upgrade to an etec…

Smokes more than my '59 Johnson 35 that ran 40 years mixed with straight 30-weight. I use regular TCW-3 at this point. No problems…..

CRC ON A 2 STROKE??? What are you, nuts? That stuff is caustic! It will strip off all the oil from the crank. you probably shortened your engines life by 90% by doing that.. even one time is enough to ruin those motors.

I have heard of some people, even racers running full throttle all the time, us Amsoil at 100:1 with no problems. It's been a while but I think I heard the guy talking about this say that he saw the motors torn down after and there was no oil related wear in the motors, and no failures.

Especially if you're not a full throttle for long periods, I think you can higher than 50:1 and still be safe, and have even less smoke (and possibly more power and mpg since oil does not produce power).

Yes, try using Johnson/Evinrude/OMC XD100 Synthetic Outboard E-Tec Engine Oil. Use the 50 to 1 same mix. I use it now and it REALLY will kill your smoking problems. Costs a little more but the motors will run a lot smoother also. Post back after trying it.

I have twin '97,150hp ocean runners that do exactly the same thing. I removed the VRO'S and I premix, which is fine. I sea foamed the engines several times which turned out fine. I also use 1 can of seafoam at each fill up, I have a 25WA Proline with a 170 gal. tank. I spray the carbs with CRC carb. cleaner. The engines both run great at idle and 4 k, but they still SMOKE like hell. Can you help?
