OK next exercise. This is realitively easy, and I'm 67 years old.
It's hard to see whether you have a straight form or butt too high or too low position without a mirror.
Sometimes I find myself holding my breath for like 20+ sec during this exercise. Should probably stop that :/
this hurts my lower back more than anything, and no I don't sag my hips.

What I like to do is go immediately into the plank right after I am done with one set of a full body workout. Gives the abs a little extra burn. 30 seconds is usually enough to get my body screaming and shaking.

To lower gut the best way is diet and regular exercise (running, cycling, swimming). Sure abs exercise will strengthen your abdomen but just strength exercise might make your gut bigger because of more abs muscles. But this is just an educated guess.

What muscles does this exercice works?
bit late, dont know if you got a reply, but planks engage more muscles, including the opposing muscles of the standard core muscles (the ones that would be engaged by the crunch) its always more healthier to practice both opposing muscles rather than just one of the two. I find situps only really effect my endurance, crunches build muscle for me, and the planks help with the opposing muscles, so i do all 3. mix and match till you find what works for you. hope this helped.
One exercise only may not help you that well. What you should to are Cardio exercise + abdominals work out (includes this and some more that you can find online) + healthy diet.
I think a small belly doesn't come from some crazy methods that kill you after each time you did them but from yourself. So everytime you're about to grap a donut or feel the bed too comfy to get out of it for a jog, remember your desire to tie your shoes without feeling like someone's strangling you.

Just do 2 minutes of planking in the morning and before bedtime and youll see a difference in 2 weeks…do 20 push ups afther the planking as well or 10 each time…i did it for 4 days and i started feeling my stamoch hardened
