I love this video. I've had depression going on about 5 years, and at the moment my family is trying to push me to start taking antidepressants. It's something that's ran on my dad's side of the family, with my dad suffering from it. I've kind of suffered with it and like you said covered it up from a lot of people. It's just something that I've developed based on a lot of stuff that's happened in my life and at times I get to the point where I just wanna give up on everything. One thing I also really hate is when I come out to people as depressed and people give me the whole pity thing or "I understand" ordeal. I don't want to be pitied, and most people don't understand. But yeah I really like this video, because I can relate to it. Too many people think depression is just the same as being really sad. There's so much more to it than that, which I really wish more people would understand.

    Very true.

The diagnostic criteria is constantly shifting as we understand more, so it's even more important to recognize that if someone is having a problem, regardless of how it happens to fit the criteria of the DSM V, the experience is real.

Stumbled across you in the comment section of Emma Blackery's video. Love the videos, you're definitely touching on a lot of subjects I wanted to touch on in videos I wanted to make, so I'm so happy to see similar users out here!

You're right. I suffer from depression and anxiety, I have now control of my anxiety (sort of) and I have fight against my depression for 2 years now. Nowadays a lot of people have mental illnesses, it's a lot more common than it should be.
