Excellent, I have cured my tendency to blush with a very similar technique in the past and it works so well for me.  Sometimes I forget about it once 'cured' until years later and I need to review it again (like I do now) so I can cure it again!  It is so effective that I forget about it for years!       I find it helpful to stop all attempts to 'control' or stop the blushing and instead of saying 'what if I blush', I now say to myself 'so what!'.  I then let it happen, almost like a separate entity, I just let 'IT' do whatever it will whilst I concentrate on listening to the conversation, I basically give up caring about it.  Replace 'what if' with 'so what' because the truth is, what will really happen if you blush?  when you think about it, you're not going to die, no one is going to kill you, if someone decides you are a weirdo, so what!  Who cares, most people are endeared by it anyway.  It's not really that scary to blush and 'I'll manage' is another good one.
