Protein blends are OK. The thing is, the casein protein will slow the absorption of whey. It is better to do straight whey after the workout for quick absorption, and casein before bed for slow digestion and absorption. Does that make sense? – Team Del Monte

Yes, it is a by-product. And it is a great source of protein. It has similar properties to dairy, but it is no where near as bad as North American milk. Your analogy is a little off because whey and milk are not the same thing where as natural peanut butter and peanuts are the same thing. – Team Del Monte
