I know a guy who is also T1. He's told me a bit about how he feels when he's low or high, and he recently had to go to the hospital last month for a mild case of DKA that was caught in time during a dr appt and they had him go to the ER

I had a run-in (1st time in 24 years of having type I) that I got super-carb-afraid. I'm not that way any more, but I can now cook you a meal leaving you stuffed, and you'd be okay had you forgotten your insulin. I'm slowly reminding myself that one can have a normal life being an insulin-dependent diabetic.
ERrrrr body has the sugars! LOL 15 years and Going
Dude I think your cool do these videos and I am 11 my friend is 10 and we both have type one
Sorry, it posted when I meant to edit it. LoL My 9 yr old son was diagnosed last year. We deal with this as a family, not just him or this is his disease to deal w/ alone. Our family motto is "We own this disease…it does not own us". As a 2 time cancer survivor, I know how to fight & come out on top. My son will do the same w/ his family & a great support team by his side. Thanks for videos, a new great tool for us to use.
Thank you so much for the great video our motto in our house is the disease it does not own us
I saw the show and thought to myself when matt said would I rather my diabetes be better or my life be better? I honestly think that if you really want your life to be better you need to take the time to get the diabetes better. oh then the whole regular soda stuff made me go HUH? I mean who knows maybe they were low at the moment and needed a quick sugar.
@XyleCoco I am sorry about that. A spammer was on the site and has been removed. Sorry about that.
Hey bill guess what. Some liberian african american. Messaged me on ur site. They were soliciting me with "I want to come to your country and invest 8.2 million dollars on something" Idk what it was about they deleted their account, they even emailed my personal email!!! I am only 13 I can send you screenshots of exactly what this person sent me. It was SHOCKING!! If you see this. Please message me it kinda scared me.. (I have type 1 diabetes btw)
MTV.com has the full episode up online.
In Australia over the last few years they have implemented healthy eating in schools. Cafeterias don't have pillows, chips, only limited icy poles etc and minimal greasy fried foods. The have main meals available eg stir fry, casseroles, salads, sandwiches etc. It's a great initiative and the teach the kids about most, sometimes and rarely foods at all stages of education. Hopefully we will see some change in the next generation ! :)
Love you Bill!
@MadBadVoodo I am sure you saw… but i did a Vid just yesterday on the Paula Deen. Too Bad YouTube doesn't allow links… but I am sure you saw it by now.
@MrMultiAlber Ha ha ha Awesome! I agree with what you said. When your disease is better, EVERYTHING IS BETTER
Bill; you're amazing in every aspect, although you're not a medical adviser, you're still a charismatic leader in the diabetes world. I listen to you now, I tried a 6" sub the other day, no cheese, no butter, just chicken and salad, ah that is nice, 8" is too much 🙂 and I came home to a sweet glucose level *happy dance*
lol I stoped at like the middle of the vid to check my blood sugar ^^ ur videos really help me be a "good" diabetic 😀 ..oh and to answer that question that guy had to answer himself .. I would say defenetely to have abetter disease! cause with like good blood sugars my life is better automaticilly!
After seeing the show last night, I can COMPLETELY relate, mostly to Matt. I am a 20 year old college student that has struggled with issues of being social especially in a drinking environment with type 1 diabetes. In response to his motif question, I feel that the two go hand in hand. In order for my life to be better, my disease MUST be better. If I drink too much and my blood sugar skyrockets, I feel awful both physically and emotionally for the choices I made. Maybe it's just me?
I will need to find this show on the web and check it out! I did not become diabetic until after age 40 so I don’t know how I would have acted at a young age. Diabetes is a real kick in the balls!! BTW Bill what do you think about the Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain diabetes drama???
