19 Challenges To Do With your Friends

As the summer comes to a close, so too do the sunny days that lead to swimming, hiking, and playing volleyball. Pretty soon, you’ll need to put on that sweater and find some other way for you and your friends to entertain yourselves. You’re in luck, because we have a handful of challenges to amuse, excite, and possible disgust you.

Wasabi Challenge

Let’s start with the basics. If YouTube has taught us anything, it’s that coercing our friends into eating disgusting things (or normal things in disgusting amounts) is a Millennial past time. Maybe it’s time you and your friends see what all what the hype is about. Start be challenging each other to eat a spoonful of wasabi – you know, that spicy green paste that you always brush off when you eat your sushi. There will be no dilly-dallying on this one though, you need to eat the spoonful in under a minute.

Ghost Pepper Challenge

Wasabi just not too spicy for you? If you think you’re a tough culinary cookie, then you might want to go a step further and challenge your friends to eating a whole ghost pepper. They might not be the spiciest pepper in the world, that honor belongs to the Carolina Reaper, but they are not for the faint of heart. Plus, you have to admit that the name has a nice ring to it.

Raw Onion Challenge

OK, so this one might not sound nearly as tough as the others. After all, when compared with wasabi and ghost peppers, raw onion just doesn’t seem to have enough kick. But have you ever eaten an entire raw onion in one sitting? No matter how much you love onion, you’ll likely find this a formidable challenge.

Gallon Milk Challenge

In the same spirit of gluttony as the raw onion challenge, the gallon milk challenge invites you to drink your fill – and fast. In fact, you have to drink an entire gallon of milk in an hour without throwing up. A more extreme version of this challenge requires you to drink the gallon in under a minute, but we wouldn’t recommend it.

The Watermelon Challenge

This food challenge involves an exciting new variant. Not only do you have to eat a watermelon in two minutes, but you have to do it with your hands tied behind your back. Prepare to get very messy.

Powdered Donut Challenge

Now, for the last of the basic food challenges, you need to eat five whole powdered donuts. Sound easy? Try doing it quickly and without taking a single drink. You’d be surprised how much your mouth dries out without a little something to wet the whistle. Not interested in cheating on your diet? No problem, try eating five saltines in a minute without taking a single drink. It’s all of the challenge with far fewer calories.

Wendy’s Challenge

If your’e getting bored with the simple food challenges, fear not. The Wendy’s challenge definitely involves eating, but with a twist. Challenge your friends to order one of each item on the Wendy’s 99 cent menu…and eat ALL OF IT. For added difficulty, see who can finish first. No barfing allowed.

Smoothie Challenge

Looking for a food challenge with a little variety that doesn’t make you eat a week’s worth of calories in one sitting? What the smoothie challenge lacks in gluttony it more than makes up for in ick factor. Choose 8-12 delicious smoothie ingredients and as many disgusting smoothie ingredients. Write each ingredient on a separate sheet of paper and place them in a bowl. Hand the bowl around and have each of your friends pull 4-5 ingredients from it. Everyone should have the same number of ingredients. Finally, reveal your slips of paper and make your smoothie, for better or for worse. The winner finishes their smoothie…every drop.

Shabby – Chic Food Challenge

For a fun food game that isn’t gross, challenge your friends to a taste test. Buy two kinds of several types of food: a cheap kind and a gourmet one. Then blindfold your friends and have them try one of each. The challenge is telling which of the types is shabby and which is chic.

Banana and Sprite Challenge

This one is a bit odd and may be based on some false assumptions, but it could be fun nonetheless. Try eating two bananas followed by a liter of Sprite. According to some, there’s some sort of chemical reaction that makes you barf. However, it’s more likely that the combination of banana and Sprite is just plain gross.

Diet Coke and Mentos Challenge

For a real chemical reaction that will make you laugh, try combining some Diet Coke with some minty fresh Mentos. Fill your mouth with a fistful of the breath freshener and start drinking. Your mouth will start looking like a middle school volcano science experiment.

Chubby Bunny Challenge

This oldie is still a goodie. Buy a bag or three of marshmallows and pop one in your mouth. Then, say the words “chubby bunny.” Keep adding a marshmallow until you can’t say the words any longer. See which of your friends can hold the most marshmallows in their mouth while still being able to say those words.

Oreo Face Challenge

Challenge your friends to eat an Oreo. That’s it – just one Oreo. But there’s a catch. They have to turn their face to the ceiling, put the Oreo on their forehead, and try to eat it hands free without letting it fall.

No Thumbs Challenge

Finally, we come to a challenge that has nothing to do with food. Challenge your friends to go the whole day without using their thumbs. Better yet, tape your hands up so that your thumbs are stuck to your palms and completely inaccessible. Just don’t plan to do any cooking.

Silence Challenge

You think going the whole day without using your thumbs is tough, try going the whole day without speaking. Challenge your friends to the task and make sure they have to go out in public at least once. The last one to give in is the winner.

Popsicle Stick and Cup Tower Challenge

Challenge your brain cells with this creative activity. You and your friends must build towers using only Popsicle sticks and cups. The winner is the only that builds the tallest free-standing tower. If you want to change things up a bit, brainstorm some other fun building materials.

Blindfold Make-up Challenge

If you’re ready to get silly and messy, try the blind-fold makeup challenge. It’s exactly how it sounds. You blindfold yourself and attempt to apply makeup to a brave friend’s face. Have multiple friends do this and the rest judge the results on accuracy, creativity, and likelihood to end up in a Picasso exhibit.

Say Anything Challenge

This simple and silly word game is a great way to pass the time. Start by saying a word – any word. Then your friend must say another word that starts with the same letter as your word ended with. This continues around and around. When someone hesitates for too long, says an invalid word, or repeats a word that’s already been said, they are disqualified.

Mouthful of Water Challenge

This challenge is all about laughter (or lack thereof). Have your friend fill their mouth with water. Then try to make them laugh (without physical contact – no tickling). You can use jokes, YouTube videos, and anything else you can think of. Side note: jumping out at them doesn’t count; you’re trying to make them laugh not scare them. For added fun, have all your friends do it and time them to see who can hold onto their water the longest.

Not a fan of these? No problem. YouTube has no shortage of challenge videos that you can draw inspiration from. You can also share some of your favorite challenges below!
